Indications:
GeloMuc® is a respiratory therapyqdevice for mobilization of stuck, viscous bronchial mucus (also in constricted airways), such as in patients with chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive bronchitis (COPD), bronchial asthma, emphysema, bronchiectasis or cystic fibrosis.

Mode of action:
The application of GeloMuc® creates positive expiratory pressure (PEP) in the bronchi, which prevents the airways from collapsing deep into the branches. Unstable airways are usually "squeezed shut" by the increased pressure when coughing, so that mucus cannot be coughed up but remains trapped in the collapsed airways. The oscillations of intrabronchial pressure and exhaled air caused by exhalation cause bronchial tubes to vibrate so that mucus can be loosened from the bronchial walls and thus transported more easily up the mouth. Long-term, regular use also improves lung function.

Scheme of action:
GeloMuc® is a small whistle-like device consisting of a mouthpiece, a funnel, a steel ball and a headpiece with holes. Before exhalation, the ball closes the funnel. When exhaling, the patient causes a positive pressure in the GeloMuc® and thus also in his own airways until the pressure has increased so much that the ball rolls up the funnel wall. The air can escape and the pressure decreases. This causes the ball to fall back into the funnel and allows the pressure to build up again.
Rapid repetition of this sequence during exhalation causes the bronchi to vibrate due to an oscillating positive expiratory pressure (PEP). Raising or lowering the GeloMuc® causes the ball to move up and down faster or slower.Respiratory therapy device GeloMuc
